HCP Inc. (HCP) is a self-administered REIT that acquires, develops, leases, manages and sells healthcare real estate and provides financing to healthcare providers. HCP has a current dividend of 5%, which is great. HCP currently trades at 1.83 times its book value and about 28 times its free cash flow. One alarming figure is the $8 billion in long term debt, which is of course the financing used to acquire properties. Investors should wait to buy this stock, but it could be a bargain if a correction occurs.

But that is not to say that, over the long term, high-carbon utilities might not be able to crack the technology and cost issues that would make “clean coal” competitive with other low-carbon energy sources. Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Seth Jayson]

Margins matter. The more TAL International Group (NYSE: TAL  ) keeps of each buck it earns in revenue, the more money it has to invest in growth, fund new strategic plans, or (gasp!) distribute to shareholders. Healthy margins often separate pretenders from the best stocks in the market. That's why we check up on margins at least once a quarter in this series. I'm looking for the absolute numbers, so I can compare them to current and potential competitors, and any trend that may tell me how strong TAL International Group's competitive position could be.

Statoil also hasn't been afraid to get help with its own lucrative prospects close to home. The company has gotten ConocoPhillips (NYSE: COP  ) to commit to a $4 billion investment plan focused on the Greater Ekofisk Area, in a joint venture with Statoil and Total. As long as high Brent oil prices persist, the better margins available from Norwegian crude will give Statoil a chance to form similarly lucrative partnerships with other industry players.

  • [By Jon C. Ogg]

ConocoPhillips (NYSE: COP) is set to report earnings on Thursday morning and estimates are $1.44 EPS. That would be flat versus a year ago. Revenue estimates are $13.04 billion, although most Wall Street analysts do not make revenue projections based upon this being highly dependent upon the price of oil and other upstream and downstream factors. The $74.10 price hit on Friday is a new high.

If you are looking for a semiconductor stock that focus on an area that not so cyclical, mid cap microcontroller (MCU) stock Atmel Corporation (NASDAQ: ATML) could be a good choicemeaning its worth taking a closer look at the stock along with othermicrocontrollerplayers like Microchip Technology Inc (NASDAQ: MCHP), STMicroelectronics N.V. (NYSE: STM) and Cypress Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: CY). Microcontrollers are programmable andembeddedchips that are increasinglyhidden inside a all sorts of products these days e.g. if you have an appliancewith aLED or LCD screen and a keypad, it contains some kind ofmicrocontroller plus all newautomobiles contain at least oneand often several. I should mention that we have also recently added Atmel Corporation to our SmallCap Network Elite Opportunity (SCN EO) portfolio and we are down about 5.6% mostly due to the recent market volatility.
